Billy Burke

Billy Burke, age 73, of Glenwood, passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2023.

He was born on November 12, 1949, in Glenwood, the son of John Pershing Burke and Ella Faye Kelly Burke.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was Baptist in his faith and enjoyed drawing, especially landscapes.  Billy worked all of his life in the grocery business, first with his family at Burke’s Grocery and Station and later with Wright’s Grocery Store.  He was always so kind and friendly to folks when they came to the stores, and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his siblings and their spouses, Sonny and Martha Prince, Mike Prince, Johnette and Joe Beene, all of Glenwood and Lynne and Ritchie Sorrells of Fair Oak Ranch, Texas; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, and a host of wonderful friends.

Arrangements are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home, Glenwood.
