Billie Jean Oholendt

January 9, 1940 — May 18, 2023

Benton

Billie Jean Oholendt, 83, of Benton, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on May 18, 2023.  She was born January 9, 1940 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late William C. and Alma Lucille (McQueen) Meyer.

Billie loved the Lord and was a long-time member of Mabelvale United Methodist Church.  She was a jack of all trades and worked in many different occupations including driving a school bus, being a wardrobe manager for a theatre company, selling Avon, and owning her own answering service.  Billie was active in the community as well and served as the den mother of the Cub Scouts Pack 198 for many years, was a member of the IATSE Union #204, was a member of ADINIROM, and was an Eastern Star with the Masonic Lodge.   Billie loved her family and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.   She was a dedicated domino player.  Billie enjoyed cooking and baking with her grandchildren. Her sugar cookies and brownies were the best! She always spoiled her family with the best sweets. Billie loved beautiful flowers and was always delighted when family would bring her an unexpected arrangement.

Billie's husband, Robert H. Oholendt, nominated her for NCO Spouse of the Year in August 1985.  In his nomination letter, he wrote:

I nominate my wife, Billie Jean Oholendt, as N.C.O. Spouse of the Year.

1.  Civic Affair:  Billie is not in any civic affair but I know if she had time or was asked she would become involved.

2.  Home Life:  Billie is the cement that holds the family together.  She has raised three sons and in the year she has helped take caer of my mother, who is sick with cancer and assisted her mother in taking care of her father who is also ill with cancer.  A better wife, mother, daughter or daughter-in-law could not exist.

3.  Community Affairs:  Billie worked with the Cub Scout program as Assistant Cub Master and as Den Mother during the time our boys were involved in Scouting.  She now serves as Chairman of the Pack Committee and helps in the programs doing most of the purchasing of awards and prizes and many of the other duties required for a successful program.

4.  Professional Activities:  Billie has worked most of her adult life in support of our family.  Presently she has started a new business, Southwest Business Service, a telephone answering and secretarial service which she enjoys very much.

5.  N.C.O. Activities:  Billie has served as President of the NCO Auxiliary and for the last several years she has been the Secretary of the Auxiliary.  She has spent many hours of her time in promoting the Association and the Auxiliary.

6.  Church Activities:  Billies teaches the fifth grade Sunday School Class and has done so for many years.

7.  Time prevent including all the detail things that she must accomplish to continue doing an excellent job on all the activities in which she is involved.

Thank you,

Robert H. Oholendt
