Billie Jean Baumann Norman, 91, of North Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022 in her home surrounded by her family. She was born June 21, 1930 in Searcy, Arkansas to the late William A. and Edna Duncan Baumann.
Billie was raised by her parents in the Garner community along with her sister and was a graduate of Garner School at 16 years old. It was around that time that she met the love of her life, Joe Norman, an injured WWII veteran, at a gas station in Morning Sun and from that point, they made a beautiful life together. Joe called her "Rosie". They were married on July 29th, 1946, and moved to North Little Rock, Arkansas that next year where they would spend their entire adult life together. Outside of raising their 4 children and being a wonderful homemaker in all that she did, Billie was known to everyone as "Nanny". She was a longtime member of Lakewood Methodist Church in North Little Rock and enjoyed activities in her husbands memberships of the Crescent Lodge 403, Scottish Rite, and Scimitar Shrine.
Billie is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 59 years, Joe Norman; a son, Larry Norman; sister, Mary Ann Lang; and a great-grandson, Canon Norman.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Gary Norman (Becky) of Cabot, Cassie LeMay (Ron) of Kansas City, Missouri, and Mark Norman (Denise) of North Little Rock; 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to grandson Brian Norman and Saline Memorial Hospice for their kindness, compassion, and care.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in Billie's name to Arkansas Children's Hospital .
Per Billie's wishes to join her husband, a graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, January 31, 2022 at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery.
