Billie Kirkpatrick

Billie Lorene Kirkpatrick, 88, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 6, 2009. She was born September 11, 1920 in Little Rock, Arkansas, the only child of the late William Webster Kirkpatrick and Cecil Katherine Garth Kirkpatrick. She was a member of The Bible Church of Little Rock for over 50 years and spent much of her working career as a medical transcriptionist for Dr. Joseph Buchman.
Billie graduated from Little Rock High School in 1939. Her love for the Lord and desire for service prompted her to attend the Multnomah School of the Bible in Portland, Oregon with a view toward working as a missionary with Wycliffe Bible Translators. However, she put aside those plans and chose to return to Little Rock to care for her parents until their death. This was the Lord's plan for her service and was but one example of the compassion she displayed to others. Among her other acts of service was teaching a women's Sunday School class. Billie was famous for her love and compassion for animals. All those who knew Billie best, knew she loved her cats and cared for them as if they were her children.
Billie leaves behind two cousins, Sarah Garth, of Kennewick, Washington and Ione Miles Key of Pasadena, Texas, her Bible Church family and a host of friends and neighbors who cared for her.
The Bible Church of Little Rock wishes to thank her network of neighbors who were so kind to her. May the Lord bless you all for the kindness shown to Billie.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 15 at 10:00 a.m. at Roselawn Memorial Park, 2801 Asher Ave, Little Rock, officiated by The Rev. James Henrich. Memorials in Billie's honor may be made to The Bible Church of Little Rock or to the Pulaski County Humane Society.
Arrangements by Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct., Little Rock, (501)224-2200. You may sign Billie's online guestbook at www.littlerockfuneralhome.com.
