Billie "June" Davenport

February 21, 1942 — January 6, 2023

Hot Springs, AR

Billie “June” Davenport, 80, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, woke up in the presence of the Lord on January 6, 2023.  She was born February 21, 1942 in Conway, Arkansas to the late Carlos Hill and Stella (Louallen) English.

June loved the Lord with all her heart and was a member of Apostolic Faith Tabernacle.  She started every morning by reading her Bible and praying.  Her Bible is filled with many notes and highlighted passages that spoke to her heart.  Those notes are now treasures that encourage and lift up her family.  June was the most devoted wife and mother.  She loved her family unconditionally and proved that love with her actions and with the best hugs ever!  She was an incredible cook and spoiled family and friends with the best fish frys, peanut butter pie, and coconut cake-just a few of her specialties.  Together with her husband, they owned and operated two Western Sizzlin Steak Houses- which they converted into Davenport’s Buffet, in Wichita Falls, Texas.  June’s home cooking and her secret recipes were highlighted at the restaurants.  While working at the restaurants and preparing for retirement, Richard and June made a dream become a reality, and purchased a houseboat on Lake Ouachita.  This became their favorite place to be and soon became their retirement home.  June was so happy at D’Port’s Dream Lodge, as it enabled her the opportunity to enjoy her favorite hobby-Crappie fishing, every day!   June would fish from sun-up to sun-down.  She caught the fish, Richard cleaned the fish, and her family ate the fish!! It is impossible to describe what an incredible, caring, and giving lady June was.  She would often sneak money, clothes, special gifts anonymously to those ladies needing a little extra help.  She never wanted or needed the recognition.  She is the true woman that Proverbs 31 describes.

Preceding June in death are her father, Carlos Hill; mother, Stella (Louallen) English; special stepfather, Charles English; and brother, Carl Wayne Hill.

June leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband of 62 years, Richard Davenport; two sons:  Douglas Davenport (Tonya) and Brent Davenport (Jeri Lynn); grandchildren:  Aaron Davenport (Allie), Chelsea Eberhardt (Jeff), Nathan Davenport (Kaitlyn), and Sheralyn Beck (Jason); great-grandchildren:  Avery and Gabriel Eberhardt and Nolan, Gracelynn, and Nataleigh Beck; and a host of family and friends who love June and will miss her always.

Special gratitude to Hospice Home Care and her exceptional care givers: Shannon, Audrey, Leeanne, and Tammy.

Family will hold a private graveside service at Sharon Cemetery.  A Celebration of June’s life, officiated by Rev. Dennis Anderson, will be held at 3:00 PM, Monday, January 9, at Apostolic Faith Tabernacle, 3217 Airport Rd, Pearcy, Arkansas.
