Billie Arlene Horn, 92, of Austin, Arkansas, died Thursday, January 29, 2009, with her family at her side. Born August 11, 1916 to Scotch-Irish immigrants, she migrated from Kentucky with her grandparents, parents, two uncles, and sisters. Traveling by covered wagon, they came to settle in Arkansas. She attended school with her sisters in Cabot, Arkansas and later graduated from there in 1934. It was there also that she met and married her husband, Robert Leon Horn. Lifelong members of the Church of Christ, the two were crop and dairy farmers in Austin, where they lived and raised three children.
Having also been a seamstress, she enjoyed quilting and crocheting. She never lost her love of farming and continued to have a garden where she grew her own vegetables. But her greatest loves were reading her Bible and spending time with her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Leon Horn; her grandparents Leroy and Sarah McMaster; parents Oric and Norma McMaster; uncles Ted and Dermott McMaster; and her sister, Captola Lemay.
She is survived by two sisters, Georgie Bruner of Clinton, and Jenna McMaster of Cabot; three children, Robert Horn and wife Gay of Austin, Hubert Horn and wife Brenda of Cabot; and his twin sister Faye Mashburn and husband Gerald of Sherwood. She also had four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
A sister, mother, and grandmother, she was a great friend who will be missed every day by her family.
Family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 2, 2009, at Westbrook Funeral Home, with interment immediately following at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Cabot.
