Bill Richards

Bill Richards, age 91, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 27, 2015. "Billy" was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Helen Richards; his parents, Jake and Maggie Richards of North Little Rock; sister, Frances Richards Rodman; brother, Charles Richards and a grandson, Jason Hatcher.
Bill graduated North Little Rock High School when World War II broke out, where he started work building baby flattop aircraft carriers in Seattle, Washington, and continued supporting the war effort building B-26 bombers in Wichita, Kansas. He worked at the Arkansas Gazette and Arkansas Democrat before retiring from Westinghouse in Little Rock, in 1989. Bill had been a member of Levy United Methodist Church, of which his parents were charter members and later, Central Baptist Church. Bill was a 32nd degree Mason at Scottish Rite, a member of Scimitar Shriners, past worthy patron in the Order of Eastern Star and a member of the North Little Rock Elks #1004.
He is survived by two sisters, Mary Ellen Dillon and Carolyn Jones; three daughters, Linda Morgan, JoAnne Duke and Kathy Hatcher; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and a host of friends and family.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Arkansas Hospice Care at St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock.
Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Smith - North Little Rock Funeral Home. A private burial will be at Edgewood Memorial Park, North Little Rock, Arkansas.
