Bill Duce

William “Bill” Lindsey Duce was born in Little Rock on August 30, 1960, and passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2025. He was the son of Dolores Summers and Bob L. Duce and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Schneider Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Duce. He was preceded in death by his father, his stepfather James Summers, and his uncle Hubert Schneider Jr.

Bill had a kind and gentle spirit, known for his compassion and welcoming nature. He never met a stranger and formed lasting connections with those around him. His faith, family, and friendships were the cornerstones of his life. He graduated from Little Rock Catholic High and attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where he played baseball and was a proud member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. He later continued his education at ASU Beebe before completing his studies at Henderson State University.

A lifelong sports enthusiast, Bill was an avid supporter of the St. Louis Cardinals, Arkansas Razorbacks, and Dallas Cowboys. He played baseball for Sylvan Hills Optimists, American Legion, and in the Men’s Senior Baseball League, earning All-Star honors seven times. He also dedicated time to coaching Little League baseball and was a passionate collector of sports memorabilia. Beyond sports, Bill found joy in fishing, a pastime he cherished throughout his life.

As a charter member of the Arkansas Therapeutic Recreation Society, Bill was committed to making a positive impact in his community and helping others. He is survived by his loving mother, Dolores Summers; sister, Deanna Hatfield (Dr. Patrick); brother, John Duce (Sherri); half brother, David Duce; stepbrother, Jimmy Summers; stepsisters, Sharon Rice and Karen Hallmark; nieces and nephews, Ansley Duce, John Henry Duce, Andrew Hatfield, Allison Hatfield, and Katie Dunn; and his aunt, Pat Moorman of Arkadelphia.

A graveside funeral service will be held at Edgewood Memorial Park on Thursday, April 10th , at 2:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to join in honoring Bill. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic High School (https://www.lrchs.org/) or an animal care facility, such as the Pulaski County Humane Society,(https://warmhearts.org/) in honor of Bill’s love for animals and his generous spirit.
