The family of Bill Cullum would like to thank you for honoring his memory by your presence today. Billy Joe Cullum was born March 2, 1952 in England, Arkansas to Coleman and Bessie Cullum. He was the youngest of 16 children, two of which died at birth. He went to be with the Lord on November 25, 2022.
He was preceded in death by six sisters; Lorene Wilson, Mildred Roberts, Marvell Null, Bernice Holladay, Mary Tackett and Linda Swofford and five brothers; Weldon (Bud) Cullum, Harold Cullum, James Cullum, Selby Cullum and Farrel Cullum.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Kathy; two sons, Cole Cullum and his wife Leslie of Austin, Chris Cullum and his wife Anna Grace of Bryant and he loved being PaPaw to his favorite grandson, Colt Cullum. He also is survived by two sisters, Norma Anderson and Francelle Stiltner; sister-in-law Margaret Cullum; brother-in-law, Wayne Null, brothers-in-law, Billy Brown and Michael Brown and a host of very special nieces and nephews.
Bill and Kathy were married on June 7, 1974 and two years later were baptized on the same night after a bible study. They also share a birthday. They had been married twelve years when they adopted their son Cole in 1986 and five years later adopted Chris. These precious boys brought joy to their lives and completed their family. Bill and Kathy are members of the Windsong Church of Christ.
In 2005 Bill was hospitalized in ICU on a ventilator for close to two months with a serious illness which almost took his life and left him a double amputee along with other health issues. During that traumatic time his family, church family and work family stood by him lifting the whole family up in prayers and love and the Lord answered their prayers and gave them almost eighteen more years together. He was appreciative of those years given to him and he lived them with a remarkable attitude which never wavered his faith in God. He was a beautiful example to everyone who knew him.
Bill was employed with Democrat Printing and Lithographing for 23 years as a Journeyman. He later went to work in the Maintenance Department at Central Arkansas Christian Schools where his sons graduated. He felt so blessed to work with Christian men at CAC and loved gatekeeping at the schools sporting events. This gave him the ability to fellowship with longtime friends as well as new ones. He loved to have bowls of candy at his table for everyone to enjoy. While working there he also did a fundraiser to be able to purchase a cart to transport grandparents or anyone who needed a ride from the parking lot to the stands. He so enjoyed helping people with anything they needed. To many, Bill was a kind gentle hero especially to his family.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., North Little Rock, AR 72114. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM Friday, December 2, 2022 at Windsong Church of Christ with burial following at Quattlebaum Cemetery in Bee Branch.
