Bill Carthan Tadlock, 92, passed away in his home Friday, July 22, 2022. He was born in Homewood, Mississippi on February 10, 1930 to Earcy Aaron and Winnie Abigail Tadlock, the first of three children. Bill attended Mississippi State in Starkville, Mississippi and there he received his Bachelor, Master and Doctorate degrees in Business Administration. Before beginning his college education, he married Mary Sue Maddox on June 5, 1948. He served in the U.S. Air Force and especially enjoyed being stationed in Puerto Rico. Bill spent his career teaching college courses including Marketing, Finance and Economics. He taught at High Point College (High Point, North Carolina), Texas A&M (College Station, Texas) and finally retired in 1994 after 27 years of dedicated service to the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Bill was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma Business Honor Society, Pi Sigma Epsilon Business Fraternity, and the Purchasing Management Association of Arkansas.
Bill was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church from 1967-2019 and served in many areas including Chairman of the Board, Board of Trustees, Usher, Church Delegate to the Methodist Annual Conference and Sunday School Teacher. He made lifelong friends with members of the Friendship Sunday School Class enjoying raising their families together, playing Canasta and many road trips in their RVs. In 2020, He and Sue joined Salem United Methodist Church in Conway.
Bill enjoyed traveling to Europe and throughout the US making friends on every trip. He loved reading, teaching, hunting, time with family, and watching Western movies. He passed on his passion for gardening and fishing to many of his family and friends. He loved animals as exemplified by caring for J.Hugh (black bear Mascot at Junior College) and various animals throughout the years.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and sister (Gay Jones). Survivors include four daughters Brenda Wright (Rusty), Becky Ross (Tim), Beth Jain (Ati) and Barbara Hobby (Russ); Twelve grandchildren Justin Wright (Jessica), Jonathan Wright (Sarah), Kristen Edwards (Brian), Sean Rhodes (Rachel), Matthew Rhodes, TK Smith (Jennifer), Brittany Peterson (Mitch), Lauren Hale (Joshua), Sarah Ross, William Ross (Skylar), Vijay Jain and Maya Jain; nine great grandchildren Carthan and Charlotte Rhodes, Elle and Wilson Wright, Emerson and Chloe Wright, Lyrik Sanders, Austen Wright and Liam Ross: a brother and sister-in-law (Bob and Jane Tadlock) and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends, all whom will miss him dearly. The family wishes to thank all the special caregivers that helped enable his independence and transition to heaven.
A celebration of Billâs life will be held at Salem United Methodist church in Conway, Arkansas on July 29th at 2 pm. Visitation will occur Friday at 1:30 pm prior to the celebration.
