Bill Brown

William H. "Bill" Brown, Sr., 89 of North Little Rock, died Sunday, April 8th. Bill was born December 21, 1922 in Little Rock, Ark., to Carl J and Marie Fisher Brown. Bill, a Veteran of WWII served in the Navy as Gunner's Mate First Class on the destroyer USS Braine. After his service he returned home to work as a Supervisor for the Jacksonville Ordnance plant in Jacksonville, Ark. He later attended law school while working for the Federal Government. After graduating law school he worked for the State Prosecuting Attorney's office before beginning his career in corporate law with Continental Insurance and retiring from Underwriters Adjusters in 1982. From 1960 - 1975 he was Sports Announcer, fondly known as "Voice of the Bears" for Sylvan Hills High. He was founder of Pine Valley Golf Course, North Little Rock, Ark., opening it for public play in 1968. After retirement he enjoyed his love for Bluegrass and Country music playing guitar "Pickin' on the Square" and with The Brunson and Brown Band later known as The 70 Band at the Ozark Folk Center, Mt. View, Ark for over 20 years. Bill was a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church, North Little Rock, Ark.,
He was preceded in death by his wife Kathryn Anna (Helmbeck) Brown and brother Carl J Brown.
He is survived by his sister Rose Marie Moore and Gary; three sons, William H. "Bill" Brown, Jr., and Mary; Gary Carl Brown and Mary; Mark Phillip Brown and Connie all of North Little Rock; four grandchildren, Chris "Satch" Brown and Amy of Bryant; Jason Blue Brown and Sydney of Sherwood; Ashley Nicole Brown of Little Rock, and Nancy Kathryn Brown of North Little Rock and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 - 8 p.m. at Huson Funeral Home, 7700 Hwy 107, Sherwood, Ark., with
Services to be held Thursday, 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, "H" Street and Olive, North Little Rock, Ark.
