Beverly Ann Reed lived her entire 85 years serving others to glorify God. That life ended at God’s “pre-arranged” time at 6:18 p.m. on August 17, 2023.
Bev was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on January 11, 1938 to Bayard and Georgia (Fox) Godwin. She remained in Shreveport until she married Perry Adkins Reed, Jr. on August 10, 1956. They relocated to Arkansas for PR’s work in construction sales. They initially lived in Magnolia, then to Little Rock before settling in Cabot to raise their family. They spent their retirement years on the mountain in Romance and returned to Cabot to be close to family for the final years of their lives.
In every aspect of her life, Bev was a woman of God. She had a servant’s heart that guided every thing she did. She loved hosting gatherings for family and friends or bringing chicken and dumplings or a Coca-Cola cake to the church supper. Her purpose in life was to share her faith with those she loved through her wisdom and kindness. This went beyond her husband and children and extended to a multitude of people through Bible Study Fellowship, Community Bible Study and the Bible Church of Cabot. God used her as His vessel to impact others. This made her beloved by many people, but her humility would always give God the glory. She has finished her race and kept the faith and the Lord has awarded her Crown of Righteousness to her.
Her family that has gone on before her include her parents, a sister, Barbara Jean and brothers, Bayard Francis (Biff) and Jerry Donald Godwin, and her husband, PR. Her family that remains are her sister, Marty Godwin of Bossier City, Louisiana; children, Rene Busby (Lance) of Cabot, Shari Dugan (Pat) of Carthage, Missouri, Randy Reed (Tonja) of Makaweli, Kauai, Monica Gaunt (John), and David Reed (Whitney) and daughter by choice Linda LaSalle, all of Cabot; 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be Monday, August 21, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in Westbrook Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Westbrook Funeral Home from 1:00 until service time on Monday.
