Beverly Baird Coleman

BEVERLY BAIRD COLEMAN, 71, passed away April 13, 2025. She was born on January 11, 1954 in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was a graduate of Hall High School Class of 1972 and attended the University of Arkansas. She married Bob Coleman, Sr. in 1974 and had one child, Bob Jr. She was a lifelong member of Christ Episcopal Church.

Family meant everything to Bevy. Her and Bob Sr.’s home was the place for many wonderful Baird and Coleman gatherings over the years. Their door was always open, and everyone would stop in for good food, hearty laughs, and plenty of Diet Coke. She loved her neighbors, and she especially loved living four houses down from her sister, Berta. When her granddaughter Maya was born, it was clear there would never be another favorite person for Bevy, with Bob Jr. coming in a close second.

Bevy was structured and always on time. She was the unofficial people-wrangler among family and friends, and it was often needed. She and Bob Sr. had a large friend group, and they often enjoyed cruises with friends throughout the years. Summers were spent at Lake Hamilton, AR and Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. She spent her last summer at the beach with her family, teaching Maya how to find sharks’ teeth and the best seashells.

Bevy was a prankster with sharp wit. She loved true crime and gleefully watched any show with a coroner. She excelled at training her dogs. Bevy was a voracious reader who loved doing her daily sudoku, Cryptoquote, and crosswords up until her final weeks. She enjoyed giving children sugar and loud presents, and she loved prank- calling her family until caller ID ruined her fun. She passed the prankster gene to both her son and granddaughter.

Beverly is preceded in death by her husband, Bob Coleman Sr.; her parents, John and Betty Baird; and her sister, Roberta Ward. She is survived by her son Bob (Sarah) and her granddaughter (Maya); brother Peter Baird (Becky); brothers-in-law Phil Ward, Walt Coleman (Cynthia), Charlie Coleman (Patti), and Cherb Coleman (Connie); a host of nieces and nephews and their children: Steve Ward (Chelsea), John Baird (Ann), Michael Baird (Lauren), Walter Coleman (Morgan), Turner Coleman, Courtney Adcock (Jay), Arden Tolleson (Josh), Jacob Coleman (Lindsay), and Jonathan Coleman; and grand-nieces and nephew Addison and Brady Ward, and Kaia and Evie Baird.

Her service is Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at 11am at Christ Episcopal Church, 509 Scott Street, Little Rock, AR with a private family internment to follow. A reception for family and friends will be held from 4pm-7pm at Bevy’s private residence. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Christ Episcopal Church, Little Rock, AR or the Humane Society of Pulaski County.

Her family would like to thank Arkansas Hospice, Concierge RN Services, Kathryn Kohlstedt, Becky Baird, Anita Starnes, Judith and David Heister, Dan and Libby Frith, and Michael and Lauren Baird for their love and assistance. She likely would not approve of this obituary because she was a private person, but mostly because she wouldn’t want her picture in the paper. She liked to keep things simple. Bevy connected two loud and wild families, and everyone should know how wonderful she was and how dearly she is missed.
