Bettye Gwen Holt, 88, a longtime resident of Bismarck was called home on Friday, July 29, 2016 at the Hospice Care Unit at CHI in Hot Springs with her family by her side.

Bettye was born May 17, 1928 to Jack W. and Zola Welch McGill in Knoxville, Tennessee. She met Cecil Holt when he was on leave with a friend while he was in the Air Force. They were married on July 8, 1959. They moved to Arkansas where she began her life as a wife and mother.

Bettye was preceded in death by her father and mother that she dearly loved, her husband, Cecil who was her best friend and the love of her life and a brother, Jack McGill.

She is survived by two sons, Daniel Holt (Christy) and David Holt both of Bismarck; a brother, Bob McGill (Dottie) of Knoxville, Tennessee; a cousin, Margaret Suttles of Louisville, Kentucky; two special granddaughters, Felicia and Hannah Ross of Little Rock; her dear friend of nearly fifty years, Barbara Walker of Prattsville; many nieces and nephews and her little dog, Bitsey.

Throughout the years, Bettye enjoyed sewing, gardening, traveling, cooking, visiting with friends and family, listening to music and to Billy Graham delivering the word of God.

The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Jansen for the many years of care and concern for Bettye, Dr. Sanja Dass and other doctors and nurses at CHI hospitals in Little Rock and Hot Springs and the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff of Arkansas Hospice in Hot Springs.

Visitation will be 6-8 pm Tuesday, August 2nd at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia.

Services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, August 3rd at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home with Bro. Don Goodman officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bower Cemetery in Bismarck.
