Bettye Jean “Nannie” Halbrook, 86 of Cabot AR, went to be with our Lord and Savior on March 4, 2022. She was born in Cullman Alabama on March 21st, 1935, to the late James Jr. and Ethel Goodson. In addition to her parents, Bettye is proceeded in death by Jerry Halbrook, her sister Barbara Hill, and brothers John Goodson and Jimmy Goodson.
She is survived by her children Rick (Marieca) Burden of Cabot AR, Resa (Udean) Dillon of Heber Springs AR, and Barbara VanDyne of Cabot AR; siblings Jack (Susie) Goodson of Scott AR, Michael Goodson of North Little Rock AR, and David Goodson of North Little Rock AR; grandchildren Rikki Taylor of Brookland AR, Michael (Lissa) Konkel of Cabot AR, Shannon (Travis) Wooldridge of Jacksonville AR, Shea (Adam) Treece of Cabot AR, Jeremy (Becky) Dillon of Quitman AR, 21 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
She moved from Alabama to North Little Rock, AR in the early 60s to raise her children. This is where she met the love of her life, Jerry Halbrook. Bettye was a member of Remount Baptist Church in North Little Rock. She started a career at Maybelline in 1975 and retired from there in 1996. After retirement, she enjoyed her time in Cabot with her children and grandchildren. She loved sitting on the back porch watching the birds, collecting elephant figurines, and her cold Dr. Peppers. Nannie was always dressed for every occasion, she believed you got out of bed and got ready for the day, even if you were just going to the mailbox. Nannie loved deeply with her whole heart, all of us. She will always be remembered for her greetings with a smile and a kiss, and her joyous whistling throughout the house. She was a true matriarch for our family. “Nannie, you will be missed beyond measure, but your mark will live in our hearts forever.”
Pallbearers are Adam Treece, Travis Wooldridge, Jeremy Dillon, Kyler Carmack, Caden Raeburn, and Clayton Raeburn; honorary pallbearers are Dennis Hill, Braxton Treece, and Conner Dillon, and guest book attendant Katie Dillon.
