Bettye Fowler

Bettye J Fowler, age 91, of North Little Rock, Arkansas passed away peacefully with family by her side on February 1, 2025.

She is preceded in death by her parents James and Beatrice Busick; grandparents Ray and Ethel Fecher; uncle Arnold Fecher; aunts Edith Galloway, Lula Cook, Adelene Hallmark; as well as the father of her children, Jackie L. Fowler.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Tim Fowler of Harrison, Arkansas, Sherry Wamester (David) of Milton, Massachusetts and Gina Seabaugh (Mark) of North Little Rock, Arkansas. She was lovingly known as “Nanners” by her grandchildren: Grace Wamester of Winter Park, Florida; Natalie Wamester of New York City, New York; Hannah Seabaugh of Little Rock, Arkansas; Sarahbeth Seabaugh of Ruston, Louisiana; and Jack Seabaugh of Little Rock, Arkansas. She is also survived by her loyal companion, Sasha, whose presence brought her so much joy.

Bettye was born on September 4, 1933, in Beebe, Arkansas. Tragically, her parents passed away before she was six months old, and she was raised by her beloved grandparents, who played a profound role in shaping her life. She often expressed that no one could truly understand the depth of love she had for them. Her grandmother, a talented seamstress, sewed all her clothes, and Bettye grew up surrounded by her aunts and uncle, who treated her like a sibling. Though they had modest means, their home was filled with love and happiness.

Bettye’s greatest joy came from spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her children were her greatest accomplishment. She was so proud of her grandchildren and loved watching them compete in sports, sing at church, play music and perform in school programs.

Bettye had a sharp wit and a wonderful sense of humor. She loved dancing, playing board games, and challenging friends and family to card games. A fierce competitor, Bettye was known for her skills in dominoes and bingo, always ready for a match. In high school, she played softball and was known to be a fierce competitor on the field, which quickly earned her the nickname of “Home Run Bettye”.

She loved going to garage sales and became a thrifter before it became trendy. Bettye had a passion for gardening and took great pride in her flower beds. Holidays were especially dear to her. Her house was a neighborhood favorite at Halloween, where she would always dress up and play spooky music. All of her neighbors looked forward to visiting her house.

Bettye will be remembered for her love and laughter. She will be deeply missed and loved forever.

A private service will be held Friday, February 28th at Smith Westbrook Funeral Home in Beebe, Arkansas, with burial to follow.
