Betty Porter Phillips of Little Rock died Wednesday March 19, 2008 in Little Rock. She was born April 5, 1927 in Mandeville, Arkansas to Harry and Rosa Porter. She was a retired nursing service inspector for the Arkansas Department of Health Hospital Division and the Department of Human Services Long Term Division. She earned her nursing degree at Schumpert Hospital in Shreveport, LA.

She was director of Nursing Service at the Ashdown, Arkansas Hospital when she met and married Don Philips, April 12, 1949.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Don Phillips; four daughters, Bitsy Lewallen and husband, Terry of Little Rock; Jennifer Totten and husband, Ken of St. Louis, Missouri; Julia Phillips of Aspen, Colorado; Jan Paulsen and her husband, John Les of Monterey, California; two grandsons, Chris and Matt Lewallen; nephews, Don and Toni Andries; Dana and Tedie Andries of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; nieces, Lana Turner of Daisy, Arkansas; Linda Floyd and her husband, John of Rochester, New York.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, March 22, in the Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel in Arkadelphia with Joe Sheeler officiating. Burial in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be 5-8 PM Friday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Don and Dana Andries, Ken Totten, Terry Lewallen, Les Paulsen and Jerald Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Christopher and Matthew Lewallen.
Don and the girls would like to express their appreciation to Briarwood Nursing Home in Little Rock, Hospice Home Care Inpatient Unit and Dr. Morgan Sauer who took excellent care of our wife and mother.
