Betty Jean Owen, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, went into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on October 24, 2024, with her family at her side. Born on April 24, 1940, in Gurdon, Arkansas, Betty filled her life with love, creativity, and a steadfast faith that touched all who knew her.
First and foremost, Betty was a prayer warrior and lived her life with unwavering faith and trust in the Lord. She was a faithful member of First Pentecostals of Benton for almost 60 years and loved her church family so much.
Betty was a dedicated homemaker and an exceptionally talented seamstress. Her artistry in sewing brought joy to her family and friends, she crafted beautiful outfits for her daughters and designed stunning bridesmaid dresses that will be cherished forever. Her skill, attention to detail, and creativity made her work a reflection of her caring heart.
Betty was the best wife and mother that anyone could ask for. She adored her family deeply, finding immense joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They brought her so much joy, and she always had a big smile and lots of hugs and kisses to share with them. She spoiled everyone of them and they all love their Gigi so much. Betty created a nurturing home filled with unconditional love. Her wisdom was sought after by many, as she offered thoughtful advice and encouraged those around her to uplift one another, never allowing negative comments about others in her presence.
Betty's legacy is carried on by her loving daughters, Darla Gann and her husband Dale of Bauxite, Arkansas, and Sheila Riley and her husband Will of Rogers, Arkansas. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Laura Park and her husband Dennis, Rebekah Gerbig and her husband Dustin, Bethany Riley, Tyler Crabtree, Justin Crabtree and his wife Brigitte, Chris Gann and his wife Amber, and Jake Gann and his wife Britney. Her great-grandchildren: Juliauna, Riley, Rhett, Charlotte, Dylan, Ruby, Savannah, Grayson, Emersynn, Everly, Raelynn, Hope, Landon, and Dennis, III will forever hold her in their hearts.
Betty is also survived by her brother, Philip Collins and his wife Vickie of Benton, Arkansas; sisters-in-law Jan Owen and Margaret Allen and her husband Vern; and brother-in-law James Owen, Sr. and his wife Dora. A host of family and friends will miss Betty dearly, cherishing the fond memories created throughout her life.
Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Robert L. Owen; her father, Oren Collins; her mother, Dimple Louallen and her husband Ondis; and her brother, Jerry Collins.
In honor of their Mother's wishes, there will not be a public visitation or service. There will be a private viewing and graveside service for family members only.
Betty was so loved by her family who will miss her terribly. We have faith though that she is in a better place and that we will see her again some day. Heaven is a little bit sweeter now that they have added another precious angel into their fold. Betty's spirit will live on through the countless lives she touched with her kindness, her unwavering faith, and the love she so freely gave. She will be missed, but her legacy of love will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved her.
