Betty Jo Moorman, age 90, of Okolona, passed away Friday, February 14, 2020 at Twin Rivers Health & Rehabilitation Center in Arkadelphia. She was born October 30, 1929 to the late Buren and Clara Deaton Hardin. Betty was a Nazarene and attended the Okolona United Methodist Church.
Betty attended Henderson College. She helped operate her father’s country store, the family farm and was a dedicated homemaker. Betty married Lemuel Moorman on August 9, 1948. She enjoyed working outdoors, reading, history and along with her husband, was a caretaker for the Okolona Cemetery. She was an amazing piano player, giving piano lessons and playing at her church for many years. Her love of music was instilled into all generations of her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-five years, Lemuel Moorman; her son, David Moorman; one brother, Richard Hardin and one sister, Marietta Shepherd.
Survivors are her children, Kathy (Jim) Nickels of Sherwood, Stan (Cyndi) Moorman of Okolona and Marian (Deryl) Baumgardner of Gurdon; a daughter-in-law, Coleen Moorman of North Little Rock; eight grandchildren, Kris (Keith) Smith, Jeremy (Shada) Baumgardner, Carey (Jensee) Moorman, Davin (Kristin) Moorman, Marci (Robert) Eoff, Melissa (Frank) Smith, Justin (Mallory) Nickels and Rachel (Tommy) White; twenty-one great-grandchildren and one sister, Nancy Smith of Yellville, Arkansas.
Visitation will be 1:30 PM Monday, February 17 th at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia. Services will follow at 2:30 PM with Rev. Ron Grigsby officiating. Burial will be in Okolona Cemetery.
