Betty L. Jester, age 79, of Amity, went to be with Jesus on 11/11/2011 at 11:11 PM at National Park Medical Center in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Betty was born on May 12, 1932, to Rufus Lee and Jewel Lona Walker in Boles, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Robert and James Walker. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Alvin Jester of Amity; her siblings, David Walker of Mount Ida, Shirley Gossage of Dierks, Wanda Fatherree of Dierks, Avie Dowdy of Lockesburg and Ginger Fatherree of Mineral Springs; her children, Sherry Diane Ming of Centerville, Kansas, Pamela Kay Barber of Ellsworth, Kansas, Jerry Stephen Jester of Springfield, Missouri and Michael Joseph Jester of Hot Springs; nine grandchildren, Bobby Ming, Jonathan Ming, Amber Ming, Cynthia Collins, Lanitha Tanton, Sabrina Yancey, Jacob Jester, Jillian Seaton, and Benjamin Jester; and fourteen great-grandchildren. Betty was married to Jerry Alvin Jester on June 3, 1950, in Dierks, Arkansas. She was a published song writer, wrote all of her children's and grand children's wedding songs plus a multitude of poems for family members and friends. She could spell just about any word found in the Webster's dictionary, and knew what they meant. She stood by her husband in ministry for sixty one years, taught Sunday School classes, lead praise and worship, and assisted in a whole host of other church related activities. She loved to decorate, put together flower arrangements, and ride around the country side with her husband to watch the sun set and enjoy the beauties of God's creation. Loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who was always faithful to hold her loved ones up in prayer. Ma Bet (also affectionately known as Betty Boop) you will be greatly missed. See you in heaven. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, November 14, 2011 in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Rev. Exie Barber officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Harmony Cemetery near Dierks. Pallbearers will be Jacob Jester, Jonathan Ming, Bobby Ming, Jr., Lanitha Tanton, Sabrina Yancey, Jillian Seaton and Amber Ming. Honorary pallbearers will be Cynthia Collins and Benjamin Jester.
