Betty Jean Massa

Betty Jean Massa, a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2024, at the age of 85. Born on January 15, 1939, in Arkansas, Betty was the daughter of Edward and Johnnie Whitehead.

Betty dedicated many years of her life to her career as a lab technician with Johnson and Johnson, a testament to her strong work ethic and commitment to providing for her family. She was a hardworking woman who approached every endeavor with passion and dedication, always prioritizing the needs of her loved ones.

Betty's proudest accomplishment was her family, which she cherished above all else. Her love for her family was evident in the special memories they created together. As a mother, she would lovingly tuck her children in at night, teaching them the Lord's Prayer, instilling in them a sense of faith that would last a lifetime. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with each of them holding a cherished place in her heart.

Known for her warm demeanor, Betty was a loving woman who always had a smile on her face. She enjoyed watching Christian programs and listening to gospel music, finding joy and solace in her faith. For nearly nine years, she shared a deep bond with her precious Chihuahua, Roxie, who brought her much happiness and companionship.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Robin Birchett and Tammy Manso (Vince); her brother, Charles D. Whitehead (Patricia); grandsons, Brandon Birchett (Amy), Blake Sowell (Brittany), and Ryan Manso (Kyla); and her great-grandchildren, Noah, Rowan, Tristan, Hurley, Gracie, and Kymber Rose, her sister-in-law, Barbara and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

She joins her deceased family members, including her beloved children, Lisa Kay and Tony Massa, as well as her parents, Edward and Johnnie Whitehead, and her siblings, Jim Whitehead, Dorothy "Dot," John David Whitehead, and Mary Louise and Marvin Whitehead, and her husband, Henry Massa.

Her family invites friends and loved ones to gather for visitation on November 14, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM, both taking place at Smith Family Funeral Home in North Little Rock, Arkansas. A graveside service will follow at Mulberry Cemetery in England, Arkansas, starting at 3:15 PM.
