Betty Jo Gale of Hot Springs, age 76, joined her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, April 11, 2009.

She was born on September 27, 1932, in DeRoche, Arkansas, to Wylie and Ola May Bray. She was the owner of the Colonial Pancake & Waffle House in downtown Hot Springs for 43 years. She was the recipient of The De Soto Award in 1995 for her passion and dedication to the continued growth and improvement of tourism in Hot Springs. Betty was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Association, Ambassador Club of the Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce, Arkansas Restaurant Association, Hot Springs Advertising and Promotion Commission, and Sarah Rebekah Lodge No. 11 of the Independent Order of OddFellows. After her retirement in 2006, she enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. She was a long-standing member of Park Place Baptist Church on Park Avenue.

She is survived by two sisters, Margie Childers, and Sue Crow, and one brother-in-law, Paul Crow, and one sister-in-law, May Ezell, all of Donaldson, Arkansas. Betty is also survived by her four children: Linda Sue White and Hal White; Rick Gale and Denise Gale; Sherry Ann Halpin and John Halpin; and Nancy Kaye Gale, all of Hot Springs. Betty, better known as "Mam-ma" had six grandchildren: Heather Schluterman and Josh Schluterman, of Bentonville, Arkansas; Bart White and Stephanie White, of Lyons, Texas; John Anthony Halpin; Jennifer Robinson and Terry Robinson; Stephanie Jo Gale; and David Lee Halpin, all of Hot Springs. Betty also cherished her five great-grandchildren: Cameron, Matthew, Aaron, Emily, and Madison. She had many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews that she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her half-brother, Pete Ezell.

The funeral service will be on Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at 10:00am, at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home, 517 Clay Street, Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Pastor Carlos Trapp of Park Place Baptist Church will preside. Pallbearers are Bart White, John Anthony Halpin, David Lee Halpin, Josh Schluterman, and Terry Robinson. Honorary pallbearers are Cameron Halpin, Matthew Schluterman, and Aaron Robinson.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2009, from 6-8pm, at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home.
