Betty Couch

Betty Gayle Couch, 89, of Little Rock, AR, departed this life on November 13, 2021. Betty was born on October 31, 1932, to Clinton and Hazel Barnes in Weingarten, MO.

After attending Saint Genevieve High School, Betty joined the Women’s Army Corps, and later completed studies at Capital City Business College in Little Rock.

Betty met the love of her life – the late Andrew J. Couch Jr., in Monterey, CA, while both were serving in the military. Betty and Andy were married in 1952 and went on to raise five children.

Betty was full of love and determination, as she and Andy grew their family, home, and careers. She was a Christian spouse, mother, and friend with full faith in God, always thanking Him for everything in life, and she bestowed this faith upon her children. Together, Betty and Andy researched family history, and she later authored several books detailing their family genealogy. She enjoyed planning and making annual vacation trips across the country with grandchildren, as she permanently and positively influenced their lives. She respectfully and abjectly touched the lives of every acquaintance. And many will bear witness to the fact that their memory of Betty will live eternal.

Betty was predeceased by her husband Andy, her parents, several siblings, son Randall Couch, and two grandchildren. She is survived by four children, Katheryn Couch of Titusville, FL; Karen Couch of Mayflower, AR; Andrew and Ksenia Couch of Little Rock, AR; and Timothy and Vicki Couch of Tulsa, OK; a brother and his wife, Bob and Penny Barnes of Naperville, IL; two sisters, Janet Owens and Joan Lane, both of Farmington, MO; fourteen grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Betty will be interred, with Andy, in the Little Rock National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Arkansas Children’s Hospital, which Betty commended as an organization that caringly serves children and families across the state of Arkansas and beyond. You can donate directly to: Arkansas Children’s Foundation, P.O. Box 2222, Little Rock, AR 72203-9984
