Betty Bailey Harp

Betty Lou Bailey Harp (82) of Mayflower, Arkansas passed away on May 16, 2021. She was born on February 16, 1939 at Rose Creek, AR to the late Walter Clay and Emerline Rainey Bailey. She reflected almost as much love for her family as God the Father has shown us. She worked as the head meat wrapper for Safeway and Harvest Foods but her true passion was her family and her church.

Betty was known in the community and her family as a wonderful cook.  No one could make cornbread dressing or pecan pies better than she did.  She could always be counted on to provide several dishes for church potlucks and to families who had an illness or lost a loved one.  Betty loved opening up her home to her pastors for Sunday lunch and always brought out the fine china for them.

Betty is most remembered as a prayer warrior.  She prayed constantly for each family member especially the ones who are pastors.  You could count on her to pray for you for anything you were concerned about or storm you were going through.

She loved her family unconditionally. She was the best mother to Theresa and Johnny and was always there when they had a ball game or special event. Betty loved nothing more than hearing Johnny sing, play the guitar, and preach. She also loved to hear Theresa play the piano at church.

Survivors include children:  Theresa Brown (Terry) and Johnny Harp (Cheryl); siblings:  Clifton Bailey (Jean), Wilma Hughes (Rodney), Jimmy Bailey (Sheila) and Kay Freeman (Phillip); grandchildren:  Chad Brown (Brandi), Brandon Brown (Amanda), Toby Brown, Matt Harp (Chelsey), Kassi McDonald (Steven); great-grandchildren:  Ella Kate Brown, Libby Anne Brown, Emerson Brown, Hadley Brown, Canyon Brown, Ellison Harp and Hudson Harp.  Betty was preceded in death by her husband, John Aaron Harp; siblings:  Clayton Bailey, Carolyn Bailey, Dorothy “Sister” Wilkins, Jewel Dean Byrd, Stinson Bailey, and E.C. Bailey.

Visitation will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Mayflower. Service will begin at 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Wooster.
