Betsy Shirley

Betsy Shirley, age 69, of Amity, died Tuesday, August 9, 2011. She was born on July 16, 1942 at Kirby, the daughter of Paul J. Johnson and Francis Geraldine Turner Johnson. On April 23, 1966, she was married to Jackson Paul Shirley who preceded her in death on July 17, 2008. She was also preceded in death by her father. Betsy was a member of the Shiloh Church of Christ and the Order of the Eastern Star #396 in Glenwood. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David and Tamara Shirley of Warrensburg, Missouri; three grandsons, John Shirley, Zachary Shirley and Nicholas Shirley; her mother, Geraldine Johnson of Glenwood; her brother and sister-in-law, Dickie and Louise Johnson of Glenwood; and her nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, August 12, 2011 in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. Gene Graves officiating assisted by David Shirley. Visitation will be held Thursday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment will be in the Glenwood Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be David Shirley, John Shirley, Nicholas Shirley, Tony Bright, Ricky Johnson and Brandon Jones. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
