Bessie Mae Wilson, 79, of Benton, Arkansas went to be with the Lord October 31, 2018. She was born October 22, 1939 in Jackson, Kentucky to the late Clyde Nichols and Ethel (Foutch) Gabbard.
Bessie was passionate about her belief in Christ. She retired as a postal worker. She was a free spirit and would do anything on a whim-from traveling alone to Hawaii to purchasing a Harley Davidson motorcycle. Bessie was an entrepreneur and owned multiple businesses. Gardening was a favorite hobby as she loved flowers of all kinds.
Preceding Bessie in death are her parents; husband, Lloyd Wilson, Sr., brother, William Nichols; and sister, Mary Makin.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Ingrid Wilson-Bowers and husband Mark of Benton; son, Lloyd Wilson, Jr. and wife Anna of Benton; grandchildren: Jared Landon, Terra Hardcastle and husband Zack, Connor Wilson and fiancé Taylor, and Sydney Wilson; great-granddaughter, Riley Carlene Hardcastle; two brothers: Arlin Gabbard and wife Lois and Arthur Gabbard; and a host of family and friends who love Bessie and will miss her always.
Reception visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 PM, Sunday, November 4 at Smith-Benton Funeral Home, 322 N. Market Street, Benton, Arkansas. Funeral service, officiated by Bro. John Ferguson, will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, November 5 at Smith-Benton Funeral Home. Burial following at Martin Cemetery in Little Rock.
