Bessie Rose Jones Gregory

Bessie Rose Jones Gregory, age 78, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at the Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock.

She was born on October 8, 1944, in Cedar Rapids, Linn County, Iowa, the daughter of Alfred Francis Jones and Bessie Jane Varner Jones.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands, Calvin Hatch Bucknam and David Allen Harris; and her three brothers, Edward Alfred Jones, Grover Filmore Jones and Frederick Allan Jones.

She was a member of the Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, where she truly loved her church family.  Bessie earned her Bachelor’s degree and was employed for several years as a High School Coordinator.  She enjoyed spending time at the Senior Citizens Center in Murfreesboro, and always enjoyed talking and visiting with friends she met who also attended the Center.

She is survived by her husband, Travis Glenn Gregory; her daughter, Michelle Marie Hendrix and her husband, Don; two granddaughters and their spouses, Crystal Marie and Vern Ellesbury and Candy and Steven Underwood; one brother, Patrick Jones and his wife, Rhonda; her stepson, Seborn S. Gregory, her stepdaughter, Nellia J. Williams and her husband, Robert; her step-grandchildren and their spouses, Casandra A. and Donny Lichtenberg, Jessica B. and Neil Smith, Travis Gilbert Gregory, Stephanie D. and Adam West and Travis Neil and Ashley Williams; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of wonderful friends.  

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, October 14, 2022, in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. Rob Miller officiating.

Visitation will be held Thursday evening, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.

Interment will be in the Palestine Cemetery in Kirby, Arkansas
