Bessie Fay Burnett-Ashley

Bessie Fay Burnett-Ashley, age 71, of Glenwood, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023.

She was born on November 16, 1951, in Plainview, Texas, the daughter of Dennis John Lawrence House and Ovie Armittie Yarbrough House.  She was preceded in death by her husband and the father of her children, Bobby R. Burnett; her daughter, Roberta Gail Burnett; her parents; and her five brothers.

Bessie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Glenwood Branch. She was a wonderful and gifted singer, who loved to go to gospel singings every chance she would get, sharing her beautiful voice in joyful praises.  She enjoyed the outdoors, nature, and had a passion for animals, especially hummingbirds and newborn fawns. 

Bessie was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, whose greatest joy in life was spending time with her family.  She was a dedicated homemaker who was an excellent cook and cherished taking care of her family and loved each of them with all of her heart.  Bessie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her family will forever hold in their hearts the many memories she has left each of them.

She is survived by her loving husband, Buster Ashley of Bismarck; her children, Robert Burnett and his wife, Brook, Raymond Burnett, and Monica Burnett, all of Glenwood; her grandchildren, Nick Burnett, Brayden Wright, Ty Wright, John Burnett, Noah Burnett and Sam Burnett; two brothers, two sisters; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, June 21, 2023, in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood with President Kimball Palmer officiating.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, prior to the services, in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, 209 North Third Street, Glenwood, Arkansas 71943.

Interment will be in the Lowe Cemetery, in Royal.
