Beryl Gene Coney, 74, of Little Rock, passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2006. Born June 4, 1932 in Cabot, he was preceded in death by his parents, Walter C. and Velma Mobbs Coney and a brother, Walter Clyde Coney. He is survived by his bride of forty-nine years, Elzie Brantley Coney; his children, Deborah Coney Mayernick, Karen Coney Criner and David Warren Coney; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Marie Criner, Olivia Rose Mayernick, Brandon Charles Mayernick, Savannah Danielle Mayernick, Devan Warren Coney and Dawson Walters Coney; a brother, Curtis Lee Coney and wife Marilyn; and a sister, Betty Jo Cates.
He was a loving and devoted husband, a wise counselor to his children and a loving and cherished Paw Paw to his grandchildren. As a young man, he served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was the former owner of Southwest Realty and B. G. Coney Co. His career as a commercial and residential developer spanned over forty years. His joyful spirit will be missed, but the happiness he brought to all who knew him will forever be remembered as a precious gift from God.
Visitation is this evening, Thursday, August 17 from 6-8 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Court (NW corner of I-630 and Barrow Rd.), Little Rock. There will be a graveside service on Friday, August 18, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. at Pinecrest Mausoleum in Alexander.
