Bernice Martin Smith, of Little Rock, went home to be with her Lord on September 11, 2005. She joins her loved ones who preceded her: parents, Clifton W. Martin, Sr. and Marley White Martin, Star City; son, Joe T. Smith, Jr., Little Rock; brothers, John E. Martin and Clifton W. Martin, Jr. and sister, Myrtice Martin Dodds, all of Little Rock.
She leaves her beloved family, daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and E. R. Arledge; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Jamie Smith, all of Little Rock; grandchildren, Petitia Arledge, Salado, TX; Robert and Jason Smith, Little Rock; great-grandchildren, Joshua and Emily Dunn, Salado, TX; Madilyn, Haley and Morgan Smith, Little Rock; and many nieces and nephews.
Bernice was raised in Star City. She moved to Little Rock where she worked for and retired from Safeway Stores. She was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church.
The family wishes to give a heartfelt thanks to the staff at Parkview Rehab and Nursing and Arkansas Hospice. Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice, 5600 W. 12th St., Little Rock, AR 72204.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, September 14, 2005, at Forest Hills Memorial Park, Alexander, AR, with Mr. John Gipson and Mr. Dennis Gulledge officiating. Arrangements by Little Rock Funeral Home, 11324 Arcade Dr., Ste. 12, Little Rock, AR 72212, 501-224-2200.
