Berna Dean Nixon, age 99, of Curtis, went to be with the Lord on October 23, 2015. She was born August 8, 1916 in Brady, Texas, the daughter of the late William K. Hawthorn and Bertie Hawthorn. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nolan Nixon with whom she had shared 70 years of marriage, one sister, Marguerite Nixon; one son-in-law Bill Acrey and one granddaughter, Shelley Nixon.
Survivors include one daughter, Nina Nixon Acrey of Curtis, AR, one son, Douglas (Nancy) Nixon of Phoenix, AZ; granddaughters Debby (Eric) Allen of Little Rock, AR and Becky Ploeger (Andrew) of Gainesville, TX; grandsons Jym (Kimber) Nixon of Phoenix, and Jason (Stephanie) Nixon of Gilbert, AZ. She had ten great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2015 in Ruggles-Wilcox Chapel with Rev. Ray Franklin officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jody Acrey, Eric Allen, Luke Allen, Seth Allen, Wes Boyce, and Jeff McNeal. Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Acrey, Glen Acrey, James Boyce, and Andrew Ploeger.
