Barbara West Johnson

Barbara West Johnson, age 77, of Mount Ida, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 9, 2023.

She was born on July 22, 1945, in Sims, the daughter of Thomas Lewis West and Beulah Ellen Hatton West.  On January 28, 1966, she was married to the true love of her life, Mike Johnson, who preceded her in death on May 19, 2013.  She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Amy Elaine Johnson; her grandson, Austin Charles Johnson; her parents; her brother, Charles Lewis West; and her three infant siblings, Estelene West and twins, Lonnie and Donnie West.

Barbara was a kind and giving woman, who wanted to help anyone who she felt might be in need, always willing to offer her last dollar to help even a stranger.  She was strong in her faith, enjoyed reading her Bible daily and sharing scriptures with her family to uplift and encourage them.  Barbara attended the First Baptist Church Lake Dallas and Faith Tabernacle in Mount Ida. 

Above all, Barbara loved God and her family.  She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who cherished every member of her family.  While our hearts are broken that she has left us so soon, we all take great comfort in knowing that this is not our final goodbye but hold strong that we will see her again soon.  Until that glorious day, we will hold on tight to our precious memories that she has left with each of us.     

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Brent and Michelle Johnson of Lewisville, Texas. Aaron Hatton and Michelle and Jarrod Wheeler, all of Mount Ida; her grandchildren, Brittney Ellison and her husband, Josh, Jonathan Wheeler and his fiancé, Taylor Deramus, Tucker Johnson and Cade Johnson; her great-grandchildren, Jax Ellison, Brickson Ellison, Banks Ellison and a precious little girl on the way; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 14, 2023, in Faith Tabernacle Church in Mount Ida with Bro. Ed Depriest and John Morgan officiating.

Visitation will be held Friday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel-Glenwood, 209 North Third Street, Glenwood, AR 71943.

Interment will be in the Lone Valley Cemetery in Sims.

Pallbearers will be Brent Johnson, Aaron Hatton, Jarrod Wheeler, Jonathan Wheeler, John Morgan and Josh Ellison.

Honorary pallbearers will be Paula Morphew, Bro. Ben Smith; Billy Johnson; and the members of First Baptist Church Lake Dallas.
