Barbara Burnett Peters died June 18, 2007. She was born to the late John L. Peters and Alice Dudley Peters on July 31, 1944. She spent time as an editor and writer for the Hot Springs Weekly newspaper, as well as an instructor of English for the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Garland County Community College, and Pulaski Technical College.
A graduate of Hall High School, Ms. Peters attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, and obtained a Master's degree from the University of Arkansas. She was a longtime active member of First United Methodist Church.
Ms. Peters is survived by numerous cousins, including George Watson of Kansas City, Missouri, David Dudley of Dublin, Ohio, Carol Kyte Clay of Elaine, Arkansas, and Victoria Reece of Little Rock. Her family offers special thanks to Dr. Mark Dyer and to the nurses and staff of Arkansas Hospice for their compassion, competence, and devoted care.
A Memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church on June 23, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Michael Mattox officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 22 from 5 - 7 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner of I-630 and Barrow Road) Little Rock. Memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church, 723 Center, Little Rock, Arkansas 72201 and/or Arkansas Hospice, 5600 W. 12th, Little Rock, Arkansas 72204.
