Barbara Lee Rish Looney, of Little Rock died suddenly on Saturday, February 2 from a heart attack. She was born and raised in Columbus, MS on October 3, 1928 to Arthur and Ada Rish. In 1948 she met and married Monroe Lowell Looney, they had three children, Ginger, Monroe, Jr. and Laura. They lived in Grenada, Meridian and Jackson, MS. Barbara worked alongside her husband in broadcasting. She was a member of the Junior League of Mississippi where she worked many community service hours. In 1972 they moved to Little Rock where Barbara worked at UAMS in the Department of OB/GYN and Bio Med Research as Business Officer from 1972 to 2002. She was an avid reader, loved to cook, garden and play bridge. Her favorite hobby was collecting and assembling photo albums of family.
She is survived by her husband, Monroe Looney; two daughters, Ginger Roell, Laura Smith (Todd) and one son, Monroe Lowell O'Lonney, Jr. (Ellen) two granddaughters, Heather Looney Witty (Darren), and Jessica Looney Struby of North Carolina; one great-granddaughter, Natalie Witty and grandson, Timothy Smith. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Jack Albert Roell, III.
Services will be held at a later date.
