Barbara James Heard

Barbara James Heard, age 86, of Van Buren, when she went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 26, 2023.

She was born on November 23, 1936, in Hot Springs, to the late Luther S. James and Jenny Eloise Williford James.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bobby L. Heard; one brother, Luther James, Jr.; one sister, Patrica James Stell; and three grandchildren, Jason Wyatt, Diana Cook-Willis and Tina Cook.

Barbara graduated form high school in 1954.  She was a housewife for a few years until she went back to school to earn a degree in Nursing.  She earned her RN degree and worked for and retired from the Veteran's Administration.

She is survived by her children, Gwendolyn Washburn of Hot Springs, Pamela Terry and her husband, Kyle, of Greenwood, Cynthia Hogue and her husband, Troy, of Hot Springs, Bruce Harris of Fort Smith, and her granddaughter/adopted daughter, Kelly Heard Fox and her husband, David, of Arkoma, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Staci, Amanda, Melissa, Stephanie, Brian and Ryan; twenty great-grandchildren, Kyle, Tyler, Dakota, Rebecca, Ethan, Kayla, Allison, Andrea, Kyler, Alayna, Connor, Zoey, Kim, Kiersten, Kiley, Kaiden, Brylee, Brayden, Leah and Lakyn; three great-great-grandchildren, Kenan, Matthew and Mary; one brother, John James of Hot Springs; one sister, Belinda James Tankersley of Conway; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

Funeral services 10:00AM, Saturday, February 4, 2023, with Pastor Greg Bearss officiating in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs.

Interment in the Gravel Hill Cemetery.

Visitation 6:00PM-8:00PM, Friday, February 3, 2023, at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Brian Lowrey, Tyler Cook, Brant Long, John Dutton, David Fox and Fernando Patino.
