Barbara Ann Freeland

Barbara Ann (Casey) Freeland, 91, of Heber Springs, AR was born on December 15, 1931, in Jefferson County, AR to the late Joe E. Casey and Lucy Ann (King) Casey and passed away on January 29, 2023. She was of the Baptist faith and worshipped at Stonebridge Senior Living of Heber Springs, AR.

Barbara was a graduate of Pine Bluff High School in 1950. She went on to graduate The University of AR at Monticello College of Nursing in 1971. She later retired from Baptist Health of Little Rock as a home health nurse. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. James Wesley Freeland; son, James W. (Jim) Freeland; brothers, JW Casey, Joe Casey, Royce Casey, Jimmy Casey; and sisters, Hazel Tober, Oma Lamont, Vera Vassaur, and Opal Sullivant.

She is survived by her daughters, Jan F. Griffin (Dr. Shelley) of Waynesboro, GA, Barbara F. “Bobbie” Bantz (John) of Heber Springs, AR; sister, Shelby Baker of Bentonville, AR; grandchildren, Sudie Griffin Langford of Macon, GA, Shelley Cates Griffin (Catie), of Augusta, GA, Dr. Jim Freeland Griffin (Jennifer) of Athens, GA, Dr. John Freeland Jayroe (Colleen) of Little Rock, AR, David Lester Jayroe of Conway, AR, Wesley Taylor Freeland (Sarah Jo) of Conway, AR; 5 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and the loving staff at Stonebridge Senior Living in Heber Springs, AR.  

A visitation will be held from 11:00-12:00 on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at Smith Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. A private family burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Pine Bluff, AR.

Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or American Heart Association where Barbara was a volunteer after her husbands battle with heart disease.
