Barbara "Bobbie" Ann Mooney Sample

Barbara “Bobbie” Ann Mooney Sample, 89, passed from this life to the next on Friday, December 23, 2022 in Little Rock, AR. 

Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, C. A & Jean Harrington of Corpus Christi, TX and her husband of 62 years, Lt. Col. Edward J. Sample, Little Rock, AR.  Bobbie was survived by her children, Debra (Jim) Sample York, Auburn, AL, David (Leah) Sample, Little Rock, AR and Donna (Fred) Sample Oates, Redfield, AR; grandchildren Allison (Matt) Oates Beasley, Redfield, AR and Taylor Oates, Redfield, AR; great-grandson Simon Beasley, Redfield, AR; sisters Juanita “Nita” Alexander, San Antonio, TX and Patricia (Robert) Brink, Corpus Christi, TX; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

Bobbie was born August 22, 1933 in Corpus Christi, TX where she spent her youth and began her love for the outdoors including fishing and gardening, as well as other crafts and artistic endeavors.  Bobbie met her future husband, Edward, while he was stationed at Corpus Christi Naval Air Station for Naval Flight Training.  They were married on March 1, 1952 and thus began her career as a Marine Corp Wife and Mother.  Over the next 20+ years, Bobbie’s life was one of adventure as the family grew along with her husband’s career.  Meeting the challenges of multiple cross-country moves ranging from Virginia, California, Texas, Hawaii and finally Little Rock, matured the 18 year old young lady into the woman she became for the rest of her life – loving, sweet, kind, loyal and patient.  Bobbie’s heart and home were always open to old and new friends and she was comfortable with paupers or presidents.  She will be forever missed and deeply loved by her family and friends. 

A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Friday, May 5, 2023 at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock, AR.  Reception to follow at Sherwood Forest Community Park and Event Venue, 1111 W. Maryland Avenue, Sherwood, AR 72120.
