Barbara “Jane” Ashcraft, age 77, of Oden, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2022.
She was born on January 16, 1945, in Oil Trough, the daughter of James Wilson McDougal and Loris Oneta Thomasson McDougal. She was preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alfred and Eva Ashcraft; her two brothers, Gary McDougal and Udell McDougal; her sister, Dolores Ketch; and her nephew, Todd McDougal.
On December 8, 1962, Jane was married to the true love of her life, Duffy Ashcraft. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pencil Bluff and was employed for many years in the oil and gas industry in Houston, Texas. Jane was a breast cancer survivor and was honored to be able to participate over the years in Project Pink. Jane was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, who loved the Lord and her family with all her heart.
Jane will forever be remembered for her generous and giving heart, who genuinely loved everyone from the time she met them and would literally give you anything she thought you might be in need of. Her family will truly miss her and her beautiful smile that could brighten up a room and even up to her very last day she still had that cherished smile on her precious face. While it is time that her family must say goodbye to her worldly body, they all hold strong to their priceless memories and know that she is no longer in pain or suffering and they will see her again someday very soon.
Jane is survived by her loving husband, Duffy Ashcraft of Oden; her daughter, Leigh Meeks and her husband, Dale Peterson, of Oden; her grandson, Derek Meeks of Houston, Texas; her aunt, Ruby Alline Shank and her husband, Ray, of Oakwood, Texas; her sister-in-law, Carole McDougal; her nieces and nephews, Terri (Scott) Buker, Greg (Genia) Harrell, Brad (Tamela) Harrell, Gary (Kirsty) McDougal, Jackie (James) Ross, Aimee (Kevin) Yeager, Kim (Steve) Crawford and Gay McDougal; her special cousins, Tammy and Tony Stadelman and Robert and Sabrina Henderson; and numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
