Barbara A. Kief

Barbara A. Kief, age 72, of Glenwood, formerly of Fairfield Bay, died Monday, December 19, 2011. She was born on May 6, 1939, at Ligonier, Indiana the daughter of Chester Staton and Ethel May Reed Staton. She married James Kief on June 27, 1964, who preceded her in death on April of 2001. Barbara was also preceded in death by and her son, John Kief; two brothers, John Staton and Robert Staton; and one sister, Donnabelle Hill. After 44 years of service, Barbara retired in 2002 from Silgan Plastics in Ligonier, Indiana and relocated to Fairfield Bay. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading and gardening. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Danita Johnson of Glenwood; one daughter and son-in-law, Kellie and Jeff Terry of Kendallville, Indiana; five grandsons, J. J. Johnson and his wife, Lindsay, Jeremy Johnson, Jordan Johnson, Jared Johnson and Jed Johnson; two great-granddaughters, Madison and Kensie; one brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Margaret Staton of Fairfield Bay; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Wednesday, 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM, at Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, December 23, 2011, at Yeager Funeral Home in Ligonier, Indiana, with Celebrant Larry Baker officiating.
