Maggie Avanell Herron Beene age 86 of Curtis, AR passed from this life Monday, September 16, 2013. at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. She was born February 12, 1927 the daughter of R. H. "Shorty" Herron and Jewel Freeman Herron. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Curtis. Avanell was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 60 years Raymond Beene, one brother, Harris Herron,one sister, Relda Dodwell, and one grandson, Cory Beene.
She is survived by three sons, Allen (Carolyn) Beene of Malvern, Ray Beene of Curtis, and Rodney (Dell) Beene of Arkadelphia, one brother, Clifford Herron of Waxhaw, NC, one sister-in-law, Joan Herron of Curtis, nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Thursday, September 19 in the Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Chapel with Rev. Phillip Runyan officiating. Burial will be in the Shiloh Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great grandsons. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Curtis, Curtis Rd., Gurdon, AR 71743 or Shiloh Cemetery, c/o Carolyn Ham, 2350 Central Rd. Arkadelphia, AR 71923.
