Asalene Shope
Asalene M. Shope, age 86, of Arkadelphia, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2016 in Arkadelphia. She was born February 19, 1930 in Pike County Arkansas to the late Garrett and Vera Harrison Gilleylen. Asalene was a member of Pine Street Church of Christ in Arkadelphia. She was retired from Sears and Roebuck Co.
She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-one years, Donald C. Shope on March 9, 2012 and one sister, Dean McGarty.
Survivors are her son, Charles David Shope and wife, Lynne of West Point, Mississippi; two brothers, Winston Gilleylen and Joe Gilleylen; two sisters, Mary Ingle and Judy Lamkin; two grandsons, Travis Shope and Tyler Shope and one great-grandson.
Services will be at 2:30 pm Sunday, June 26th at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home with Roger Genung officiating. Interment will be in Delight Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:30 pm Sunday until service time at the funeral home.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to Twin Rivers Healthcare and staff for the excellent care given to Asalene.
