Arthur Lee Sweet, age 81 of Arkadelphia, AR died Thursday, April 1, 2010. He was born February 16, 1929 in La Junta, CO and was the son of Charles Arthur Sweet and Minnie Jessie Halley Sweet Stahr. Lee was retired parts salesman from John Deere Tractor Co., a member and past Master Mason of Arkadelphia Masonic Lodge 381, a founding member of the Arkadelphia Running Club and a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Helen Laverne Carter Sweet, and his two daughters, Linda Kay McIntyre of Longview, TX and Lea Ann Sweet-Jacobs and her husband Joey Jacobs of Little Rock, AR. Other survivors include his eight grandchildren, Kelly LeGuin of Arkadelphia, AR, Dr. Lydia Fann Hunjan of Little Rock, AR, Marlana Lea Fann of Memphis, TN, Kathryn McIntyre of Fayetteville, AR, John McIntyre of Longview, TX, Carter Jacobs, Sorrel Jacobs, and Presley Jacobs of Little Rock, AR, and two great-grandchildren, Kasey Lee Smith and Kristine LeGuin of Arkadelphia, AR.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday April 5, in the Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Norman Carter officiating. Visitation will be 4-6 PM Sunday at the funeral home. He will rest eternally at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Arkadelphia, AR. Pallbearers will be Jon McIntyre, Lyle Gruby, Dr. Harjot Hunjan, Harris Fann, Lance LeGuin and Joey Jacobs.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Arkadelphia, AR.
