Arthur Michael Rudek, 83, of Benton, Arkansas passed away Thursday, April 16, 2015. He was born January 19, 1932 in Chicago, IL to the late Michael and Sophia Baszczak Rudek.
Arthur served in the United States Army as an Ordnance Supply Specialist. He is a veteran of the Korean War and recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Army of Occupation Medal in Germany, and the Sharpshooter Badge. Arthur was a mechanical engineer, and retired from Magnavox. Arthur is remembered for helping do anything for anyone, regardless of the cost. He was selfless-not concerned about receiving accolades, but rather desired to be of service and help to others. His parents modeled the importance of helping others throughout Arthur's life. Arthur loved his children and grandchildren. He always had a kiss waiting when he would see them and they brought him great joy.
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ted Rudek.
Arthur is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Carolyn Rudek of Benton, AR; 4 daughters, Celia Rudek of Ft. Wayne, IN, Michelle Rudek and husband Dirk Schmieding of Denton, TX, Catherine Burks and husband Jesse of Benton, AR, and Karen Yost and husband Christopher of Larwill, IN; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Eugene Rudek and wife Marsha of Ft. Wayne, IN; sister-in-law, Dorothy Rudek of Ft. Wayne, IN; as well as many family members and friends who loved Arthur and will miss him always.
Reception Visitation will be held on Monday, April 20th, 6:00 - 8:00 P.M., at Smith-Benton Funeral Home, 322 N. Market St., Benton, AR 72015. Funeral service, officiated by Father Nicholas Verdaris, will be held Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at Smith-Benton Funeral Home with burial to follow at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery at noon.
