Arthur Ray McDermont

Arthur Ray McDermont, age 87, of Hot Springs, passed away Thursday, February 24, 2022.

He was born on August 21, 1934, in Riverside, California, the son of Ray Alexander McDermont and Sarah Marshall McDermont. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 59 years, Grace McDermont, December 15, 2021; his sister, Barbara Davis; and his son Ray Alexander McDermont II.

Arthur loved the Lord and was an active member of Oaklawn Baptist Church. He loved horse racing and owned several race horses that won several races. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing. Arthur leaves behind many that loved him, he will be missed.

He is survived by his son, Arthur Quentin McDermont of Hot Springs; his daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Mark Ross of Benton; his nephew and his spouse, Patrick and Willow Green in Hawaii; his grandchildren, Blake and Carlie Ross of Benton and Alex and Dylan Robbins of Hot Springs; four great-grandchildren, Grayson Ross, Madalyn Ross, Laiken Ross and Jaxton Robbins; nieces, nephews, extended family members and many wonderful friends.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, March 1, 2022, in the Smith Family Funeral Home Hot Springs Chapel with Bro. Jeff Hill officiating.

Interment will be in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to service.

Pallbearers will be, Mark Ross, Allen Echols, Kenneth Gaines, Niagle Ratchford, Michael Ratchford and Mark Gammill.
