Arthur Clark Copeland, 56 of Mabelvale, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2009 at Saline Memorial Hospice Center in Bryant. He was born on August 6, 1953 in Little Rock , AR ; he was the son of Ralph Copeland and Rosa Stewart Copeland.
Arthur was a loving father, husband, and brother, who was a veteran of the United States Army and Navy, serving from 1970 until 1974. He was the constable for District 2, and a Reserve Officer for Saline County . He retired after twenty years of service from the V.A. Medical Center , and served as a substitute teacher for Bauxite Public Schools. Arthur loved children and expressed that love through his service of numerous volunteer works such as driving buses for field trips and ballgames, teaching Youth Sunday School at his church First Baptist Church of Shannon Hills, and dressing up as Santa Clause and delivering gifts to children for DHS during the holiday season.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Jerre Copeland.
Survivors include a wife Shirley Copeland and daughter Amanda Copeland both of Mabelvale; three brothers, John and Ann Copeland of Scranton ; James and Doris Copeland of Cabot, and Jody Copeland of Conway .
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 27, 2009 at Huson Funeral Home Chapel on 6400 Mabelvale Pike in Little Rock with Larry Daniel and Dan Flora officiating. Burial with military honors will follow the service at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock .
Casket Bearers will be Sheriff Bruce Bennington, Lt. Jerry Morrison, Lt. Mike Frost, Det. Robert Burnett, Det. Bill Jackson, and Sgt. Harold Manable.
