Argyle L. Hopkins

Argyle (Sonny) L. Hopkins, of Conway went home to be with the Lord on February 3, 2023. Argyle was born on August 13, 1944 in Searcy, Arkansas, the son of John B. and Tempie Mae (Barger) Hopkins. He is a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the American Legion. He retired from Diebold, Inc. in 2013 after 36 years as a Service Technician and enjoyed helping family and friends with their locksmith needs after he retired. He married his wife Charlene (McDonald) Hopkins in 1969, sharing 45 years of marriage until her passing in 2014. He was also a member of Sunny Gap Baptist Church in Conway, where he was an active Deacon, and Sunday School teacher. He served his church in many capacities and was always willing to help where needed. He actively encouraged his daughters in their interests and taught them the importance of serving in the local church. He also enjoyed playing golf and camping.

Argyle was survived by, his daughters Kimberly Stubbs and her husband Bob, Rebecca Rupert and her husband Chad all of Greenbrier, and his five grandchildren Bethany, Matthew, and Hannah Stubbs, and Shelby and Luke Rupert as well as other precious family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and his brother (Fred Hopkins).

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 from 6:30-8:30pm at Griffin Leggett Conway Funeral Home, 1751 Dave Ward Drive, Conway, and on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 12 p.m. at Sunny Gap Baptist Church, 101 Sunny Gap Road, Conway, AR 72032. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 9, 2023 beginning at 1:00pm at Sunny Gap Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Sixteen Section Cemetery in Austin, Arkansas, where military honors will be rendered.

Pallbearers are John Brown, Daniel Howard, Luke Rupert, Sam Stevenson, Matthew Stubbs, and Ashton White. Honorary Pallbearers are Don Avra, Chad Rupert, Bob Stubbs, Dale Thomas, Frank Tidwell and Billy Don Vaughn.
