Arah Skaggs

Arah Skaggs was born at Nail in Newton County, Arkansas, on October 3, 1912, the daughter of William Washington Laughter and Mary Sams Young Laughter. She married Johnnie Floyd Skaggs of Walnut in 1932. They were married for 57 years when he passed away in 1988. A good Christian woman, Mrs. Skaggs was a beloved mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother. She went to be with her Lord on February 21, 2010, at Baptist Health Medical Center North Little Rock at age 97.
An avid gardener, Arah Skaggs' yard was always a showplace of floral beauty. She also enjoyed various types of needlework and served delicious family meals.
Others predeceasing Mrs. Skaggs were her daughter, Mary Della Skaggs, her parents, and siblings, Mark Laughter, Clyde Laughter, Lee Young, Orenthia Young, Arthur Young, John Young, Axie May Young Ramsey, Wyoma Laughter Scott, Adeline Laughter Simmons, Essie Mae Laughter Hoppert, and Troy Laughter.
Survivors include her children Joan Mahan, J. F. Skaggs, Jr. (Donna), Homer L. Skaggs (Sara), and Charlotte Garrett (Randy); grandchildren, Linda Connett, Mark Mahan;, J. F. Skaggs, III, Rhonda Baird, Jake Skaggs, Jeffrey Skaggs, Eric Skaggs, H. Lyle Skaggs, Jr., Rebecca Sullivan, and Bethany Taylor; as well as numerous great and great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Dorothy Skaggs Wilson Villines; and several nieces and nephews.
Arah Skaggs will be laid to rest beside her husband and nearby her parents and a grandmother, Kathern Lyda Laughter, at Hickory Grove Cemetery, Nail, Newton County, Arkansas, on Thursday, February 25, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Nail Community Church with Rev. Gene Davis officiating.
