Ann Thomas, of Monticello, Arkansas, was welcomed into the kingdom of heaven on Sunday, September 8, 2019. Ann was the youngest daughter of 16 children born to Lillie Estelle and Luther Monroe Speed. She was born and raised in Chatawa, MS. She is survived by one brother, Jim Speed (Patty) of Ada, OK, and one sister-in-law, Anna Speed, of Greensburg, LA. After graduating from the UAM School of Nursing in 1981, she worked as a registered nurse for many years before retiring. Ann was a woman of faith who loved her family. She enjoyed family trips, holiday gatherings, shopping trips with her daughters and granddaughters, and time spent with her grandkids. Ann loved flowers, redbirds, and her kitty cats. Her special time each day was drinking a cup of coffee first thing in the morning on the patio with R.C. Ann’s husband of 63 years is R.C. Thomas. A loving mother to 4 children including: Sherri (Bruce) Elam, Curt (Lea Ann) Thomas, Teresa (Mick) Gathright, and Jim Thomas. The doting grandmother to 7 grandchildren including: Jennifer Pharr, Brad Elam, Rebecca Thomas, Patrick Thomas, Brent Gathright, Mark Gathright, and Natalie Thomas. The great grandmother to 7 and blessed to have too many cousins, nieces, and nephews to list or even count. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 14, at Wilmar Baptist Church, in Wilmar, Arkansas.
