Anne Phillips

May 7, 1942 — November 2, 2021

Anne Phillips passed away surrounded by her children on November 2nd at Methodist Richardson Medical Center in Texas. She was 79 years old.

Anne is survived by her sister Beth Adams of Waterloo, Illinois, her son Bryan Green of Heber Springs, Arkansas, her daughter Christina (Nikki) and son-in-law Brandon Jones of Rockwall, Texas.  Also, her grandchildren Scott & Leah Green, Taylor Green, Blake Jones, Loryn Jones and great grandchildren, twins, Sean and Callie Green.

Anne was born to Herman Pendergrass and Rezzie Phillips on May 7th, 1942 and was raised by her sister Lucy and brother-in-law Clifford Wood on a farm in Gould. She graduated from Gould High School and briefly worked for the Navy and Army in Washington DC.  She soon started working for the IRS and remained with them for almost 30 years. She made strong bonds and lasting friendships with her coworkers and enjoyed telling stories about her time working for the government.

After retirement she started her own business as an enrolled agent and represented individuals with tax problems by helping them navigate the red tape. She loved supporting her friends and family with tax questions or problems and leveraged her experience as an Appeals Officer to appear before the IRS on their behalf.

Anne liked reading, was constantly learning, and enjoyed spending quality time with her family. She was enthusiastic about her politics and her charity, the Southern Poverty Law Center. She craved adventure and traveled to exciting places including Panama.

Anne leaves a wonderful legacy behind. She was an amazing mother, friend and Nana and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
