Anne Evans Joyner, 88, of Arkadelphia, died at Twin Rivers Health and Rehabilitation Center, Arkadelphia, Sunday, April 15, 2007. She was born November 15, 1918 in Clark County, Arkansas to Dr. Charles Aylmer and Annie Maude Huie Evans.
She was an educator, having served as a teacher at Perritt Primary School and as a Principal at Central Primary School. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church and the recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award from Henderson University in 2002. Anne attended Henderson State Teacher's College graduating in 1940, and later receiving her Master's Degree in School Administration. Her parents and her husband, Walter R. Joyner, preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Charles R. "Chuck" Joyner and his wife Gail of Chesterfield, MO, and James Joyner and his wife Julie of Denver, CO; two sisters, Sara Savage of Oklahoma City, OK, and Maribeth Vestal of Snyder, TX; two sisters-in-law, Marie Sickel of Little Rock, and Pauline Helton of Sherwood; two grandchildren, Jim Joyner and his wife Jonelle of Ballwin, MO, and Kim Grimes and her husband Tim of Wildwood, MO; and six great grandchildren, Kaylee, Alyssa, and Ryan Joyner of Ballwin, MO, and Abby, Sophia, and Jonathan Grimes of Wildwood, MO.
Visitation will be 6-8 PM Thursday at the Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 20, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church, Arkadelphia, with the Rev. Daniel Kirkpatrick officiating.
A private burial will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jim Joyner, Tim Grimes, Dr. Joe T. Clark, Dr. Jim Ford, Bobby Shuler, and Bill Campbell.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Annie Maude Evans and Francis McLean Sunday School Classes.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Arkadelphia; or to the charity of your choice.
